September has been a bit calmer of a month in terms of my makeup. I've been wearing more natural looking makeup, really focusing on my complexion products and learning how to create a flawless base with the least amount of makeup necessary. So these favourites of mine will probably reflect a simpler month of makeup.
I know I was just talking about base products but I can't talk about my favourites of September without mentioning my depotting craze. I'd depotted a couple of eyeshadow palettes before but throughout the last month I've taken it rather seriously and have gone through about 6 of my palettes and combined them into 3 custom palettes of my own creation. Depotting is fantastic for me because it allows me to achieve the feeling of newness and excitement about eyeshadow without actually buying a new eyeshadow palette, which would break my no-buy year. Whenever I see new releases that I think I would like, I'll sit down and play around with my single shadows until I've created something similar and I get that rush and excitement of something new from products that I already owned.
COSRX - Oil Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion with Birch Sap
I have been using this moisturiser for years so I can't remember if it's featured in my favourites before but it's here anyway because I've been really appreciating it lately. The formula of this moisturiser is thick but not heavy and it sinks it really nicely without leaving any shine on my skin. It's never too heavy for my oily skin no matter what time of the year and the bottle seems to last a really long time. The formula of it actually reminds me a lot of the Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum, just a bit thicker.
Morphe M536 Under Eye Bullet Brush
I own a set of Morphe Brushes and I have decided that they're very hit and miss in terms of quality. Luckily this brush is a hit. This has been a great brush for the past month when I've used it to blend out my foundation and concealer in a more targeted manner. It can be used to blend or pat product into my skin and either way it looks smooth and natural.
Fyrinnae Kurisumasu! Loose Eye Shadow
This is an eyeshadow sample that I purchased from Fyrinnae that turned out to be a little lackluster when I started to use it. In the end I thought what the hell and put it on my cheeks as a blush and it turned out to be a great idea. This is a little darker than what I normally go for in a blush but it has a lovely reflective, shimmer in it that catches the light like a highlighter so it's very pretty to wear. I've been glad to discover another use for it rather than an eyeshadow because I wouldn't have used it that way in the end.
Fyrinnae Nijiro Loose Eye Shadow
This is another loose eyeshadow from Fyrinnae and once more it's an eyeshadow that I've been using differently instead. This time the eyeshadow is just too light for me to wear on my eyes, I don't like the effect it has when I wear it across my lids at all. Instead I've been using this as a highlighter on my brow bones, inner corner and cheekbones and it's more blinding that my normal highlighter but the colours is perfect for my skin tone so I've just been glowing more than usual lately.
Those were my favourite beauty and skincare things during the month of September. Please let me know in the comments what you favourite products have been lately or if you have any thought on mine!
As always, thanks for reading and I hope you're as happy and healthy as can be!
