My Latest Beauty Favourites
All of these favourites I'm going to talk about are makeup products. Normally I'd have some skincare in here as well however while I did try a lot of new skincare last month, nothing wowed me enough to include it in this post.
Speaking of skincare over the last few weeks my skin has been awful, very oily and featuring lots of breakouts. I am also coming to the end of a head cold so makeup has been my hero throughout all of this.
When it comes to makeup I like being able to brighten my mood no matter what with a little colour and glitter so to start off my latest favourites I'll talk about the Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in the shade Ballet Baby.
These Magnificent Metals by Stila are one of the easiest ways I've found to apply glitter and they're great for travel. If ever I want a bright and pretty look I'll put this all over my lids. It's gotten a lot of use throughout my week of sickness; whenever I was feeling down I would wear this and it would shimmer and sparkle and I'd instantly feel better.
My next favourite is the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick in the shade Rock ‘n’ Roll Nude. This lipstick collection was a collaboration with Kate Moss and I'd been dying to get my hands on one of the nudes because they looked amazing.
In the end the Rock 'n' Roll Nude was the shade I bought and it's been a favourite of mine to reach for lately. The peachy-nude shade balances out any dark eyeshadow look and the formula is comfortable and long wearing.
What more could you want in a lipstick?
Next up is a bh Cosmetics brow gel. The brand isn't particularly important here, what I have been loving is using this dark brown brow gel as mascara.
As I am currently doing a no-buy year for makeup and skincare (read this post if you want to know more about that) I haven't been able to buy a brown mascara and it's been killing me.
So after months of wanting to wear brown mascara and not having the option, I read a makeup hack that used brow gel as mascara for a more natural look and it was a dream come true.
On days when I'm going for a no makeup or boy beat look I'll use the dark brown brow gel as mascara and it defines my lashes just perfectly to where they still look natural however they're thicker and darker than what they normally would be. The way I'm going I'll probably finish off the brow gel on my lashes instead of my brows!
Finally, the last of my latest favourites is an indie brand. A highlighter called In The Spotlight from fyrinnae.
Now, I have a feeling that in the past I've actually given this highlighter a bad review as technically it's a pretty bad highlighter. However that has been exactly the reason that I've been getting so much use out of it!
This highlighter isn't very reflective, there's no sparkle and barely any shine. Which all sound like qualities of a bad highlighter however this has been my go to product to bring back the dimension to my face if ever I've gone for an all matte look.
I mean if I've got matte foundation, matte face products and matte eyeshadow this is the only highlighter I have that keeps in that theme. It's got so little highlight in it that it just manages to add a little dimension to my face without adding any shine and by doing so keeps my look matte.
I'm probably making it sound complicated so to sum up, In The Spotlight by Fyrinnae is a highlighter with barely any highlight in it so I use it on days when I'm going for an all matte look and it's perfect for that job.
Yay! Those were all of the products that I've been using and loving lately.
Let me know in the comments if you have your own list of favourite things or if you've tried any of the ones above!
