May Empties

Another month come and gone and finally I was able to finish the last of many products that I'd been waiting to run through. This months empties features a lot of skincare and a couple of makeup products. I'll briefly run through each product to give a very short review and tell you if I would repurchase the product or not.

First up is the Vaseline Cocoa Glow body moisturiser. This is my current favourite moisturiser for my body; it sinks into skin quickly and doesn't leave a greasy feel, it's very hydrating and leaves my skin silky smooth. And while at first the name cocoa glow put me off thinking it was a self tanner, this is a normal moisturiser without any tint.

Would I repurchase? Yes, already have.

Next is the Simple Spotless Skin Triple Action Face Wash. I always like to have a general face wash in the shower for nights when I skip my proper routine and this was the latest in the line of face washes I've tried. It's a foaming scrub so it left my skin squeaky clean but there wasn't anything amazing about it. The smell was quite chemically and I didn't notice my skin clearing up as the bottle claims.

Would I repurchase? No.

I went through a lot of moisturisers in May, this one is the Belif True Cream - Moisturising Bomb. This is quite thick for a facial moisturiser however it meant that my skin was always well hydrated, it sunk in fairly well on my oily skin however for summer I think it would be too heavy. During winter this is a good moisturiser for over night.

Would I repurchase? Maybe.

One product that I'd been waiting to finish for what felt like months was the Hado Labo Gokujyun Premium. It's an odd sounding name however I swear this product lasted me nearly a whole year, and I wasn't trying to stretch it out at all. This is a really nice way to add a little extra hydration to my skincare routine, it sinks in very quickly with my oily skin and leaves no shine. I use this underneath a thicker facial moisturiser as a little moisture boost.

Would I repurchase? Yes, already have.

The Grow Tea Tree 80 Cream was not a product that I set out to buy but was more of a decision made when I was caught up in a sale. It's a facial moisturiser with the added benefit of tea tree oil however I found this had a really strange consistency that never really seemed to sink into my skin. I also noticed no benefits from the tea tree in this cream so overall I wasn't very impressed.

Would I repurchase? No.

The next product I finished is the Mecca Cosmetica Lip De-luscious Lip Protectant. Which is, from what I found, a very long way to say lip balm. A while this was a nice enough, moisturising lip balm that wasn't sticky when applied, it did have a very strong scent that never left and it's also in a pot which I always find difficult to use. I couldn't throw it in my purse and it meant my fingers were left with lip balm on them after I applied it. It's also pretty expensive for what I consider an average lip balm formula.

Would I repurchase? No.

Another moisturiser I finished was the DermaVeen Extra Gentle Hand Cream. During winter my hands will crack very easily so I always have a hand cream on me. This one was okay, a little greasy after applying but it's free of lanolin, parabens, dyes, fragrances and alcohol so if you have sensitive skin this would probably be a good moisturiser.

Would I repurchase? Probably not.

I also went through a small tube of body cream, the Redwin Sensitive Skin Sorbolene Moisturiser with Vitamin E. I bought this because I'd tried a different moisturiser with Vitamin E and had loved it and was hoping this would be as good. Unfortunately this wasn't the same at all. It's slow to sink in and leaves the skin a little greasy, it also doesn't feel like the moisturisation lasts for a long time.

Would I repurchase? No.

I bought a set of 10 of these OXX Lip Glosses so it's a good thing that I like the formula! They're not sticky or tacky, they last well on my lips and they don't carry a scent or flavour. The pigment isn't opaque but that's fine, I knew that when I bought them. For a cheap brand they're one of my favourite glosses to wear in my collection.

Would I repurchase? Yes

Another makeup product that I finally finished was the Peripera Ink Highlighter in the shade 03. Beige Kitten Beam. This was a cream highlighter that was supposed to give me the dewy skin look that's popular in Korea. Unfortunately while the colour was a good match for me the highlighter was mostly glitter in a sheer paste and I hated the way it wore. It was also very difficult to work under or over my foundation so this was quite a disappointment.

Would I repurchase? No.

Finally, the last product I finished isn't exactly makeup or skincare but I wanted to include it anyway. It's the Halo Beauty Kiwi Seed Skin Booster and the bottle I finished was the final of six that I'd gone through. I've written a full review of my experience with Halo beauty here, but to summarise, I think these multivitamins worked best for me when used in a cycle. For example I will use them for 3 months and then go off them for maybe the same amount of time. If I continue to use them for many months in a row they will lose their effect after about 4 months.

Would I repurchase? Maybe.

And that's it! Those were all of the products that I finished during May. It was a big month, this is the longest empties post I think I’ve ever written!

Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried any of these products and what you thought of them!
